Building regulations approval is required for all house extension and loft conversions (except for a front porch and small garden rooms). It exists to make sure that the design and construction of any home extension is compliant with current building regulations requirements, including structural, thermal and fire safety aspects.
An application to building control is made prior to the extension or conversion works starting on site. This is often made to a private approved inspector. They will confirm the submitted plans are compliant and carry out inspections of the construction work on site, for example the foundations of the extension, damp proofing, insulation, roof construction and any structural steel works that have been carried out.
All our extension and loft conversion plans are completed to include full compliant building regulations specifications for builders to price the work and to follow on site to make sure everything is constructed to satisfy building control. We are also available on the phone or by email to answer any queries raised by the builder on site or the building control inspector
